Gianyar Regency Awards Rp 42 Million Benefit to Late Balinese Artist Ida Ayu Nyoman Oka, Family Expresses Gratitude
The heirs of late Balinese cultural preservationist Ida Ayu Nyoman Oka received a Jaminan Kematian death benefit totaling Rp 42 million from the Gianyar Regency Government in Siangan Village, Gianyar, on Sunday, August 2, 2026. The late artist passed away at the age of 82 after dedicating her life to safeguarding local arts.
Gianyar Regent I Made Agus Mahayastra symbolically handed over the funds, noting that the local administration currently registers hundreds of regional artists into the social protection system. "Pemkab Gianyar has enrolled 595 artists into the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan program with an annual budget allocation of nearly Rp 120 million sourced from the regional budget," explained Mahayastra during the ceremony.
"We are officially handing over this BPJS Ketenagakerjaan death benefit to the heirs of Wija Kusuma artist, the late Ida Ayu Nyoman Oka," added Mahayastra while expressing his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
Reacting to the financial assistance, representative family member Ida Ayu Putu Eka Susanti voiced appreciation for the swift administrative backing provided by regional authorities. "We are extremely grateful to the Regent and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan for the attention and assistance given to our family," stated Dayu Eka.
Local officials confirmed that registering traditional practitioners into formal social security programs reduces financial vulnerabilities for vulnerable households following the loss of a primary contributor.
