Badung Backs Massive Infrastructure Push, Golkar Urges Coastal Safeguards

Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa has taken a decisive step to address chronic traffic gridlock in South Bali by executing two strategic infrastructure projects valued at over 2.9 trillion rupiah on Sunday, August 2, 2026. The major undertakings include the construction of the South Ring Road and the Berawa-Umalas-Kedampang-Teuku Umar Barat shortcut route. Local government officials aim to use these multi-trillion projects as a concrete solution to ease traffic density in vital tourism areas.

The high mobility of residents and tourists in South Bali has long required serious and measurable intervention. Adequate infrastructure remains essential to maintain comfort, traffic flow, and Bali's reputation as a world-class destination.

"This development is not just about building new roads, but about building connectivity, opening access, reducing congestion, and strengthening the tourism competitiveness and economy of Badung Regency," said Anak Agung Ngurah Ketut Agus Nadi Putra, Chairman of the DPD II Golkar Party of Badung Regency.

Alongside road expansion, the local Golkar faction urged officials to implement critical coastal protection initiatives. Lawmakers emphasized that safeguarding beaches and river estuaries is vital to preventing erosion and maintaining the region's primary tourism assets.

"Besides roads, we also need to strengthen our marine areas and river mouths in Badung Regency because beaches are one of the main tourism icons we possess," he stated, underlining the need for environmental sustainability alongside economic growth.
