During a follow-up discussion, O'Neal clarified that he believes every championship squad needs favorable breaks, noting key injuries and pivotal moments across the league. He pointed out that historical runs often involve fortunate plays that alter the trajectory of a playoff series.

'I hate people like you that don't listen,' said O'Neal. 'I said luck was involved. What if Anunoby doesn't get the tip? What if Fox held the ball back? That's luck. What if Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum play the postseason? Everybody needs luck to win the championship.'
