International Climbing Wall Scheduled For Buleleng, New Sports Hub In Bali

Bali plans to construct an international-standard climbing wall in Buleleng, targeted for realization by 2027. The project aims to honor climber Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi's global achievements while expanding sport tourism across northern Bali.

An international-standard climbing wall facility is slated for construction in Buleleng, Bali, with field surveys officially commencing at the Taman Asri Banyuasri area on Sunday, August 2, 2026. Governor Wayan Koster initiated the project to foster regional sport tourism in northern Bali, backed by a preliminary budget estimation of 10 billion Indonesian rupiahs.

The multi-stage project will feature dedicated walls for speed, boulder, and lead climbing disciplines complying with global sports federations. Local administration officials have committed an additional 2 to 2.5 billion rupiahs to construct supporting infrastructure, including spectator grandstands, locker rooms, storage facilities, and public restrooms.

"We extend our gratitude to our athlete Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi for bringing honor to Indonesia, Bali, and Buleleng," stated Putu Yudi Atmika, Chairman of FPTI Bali, during the site inspection.

FPTI officials and regional leaders believe the strategic location near Lovina tourism zones will attract international tournaments. "This venue will serve as a premier training ground while opening doors to host world championship events in Buleleng," noted Gede Supriatna, Deputy Regent of Buleleng.

Construction efforts will run parallel with ongoing green open space developments in Banyuasri to ensure maximum public accessibility and environmental integration by 2027.
