Palantir CEO Alex Karp Blasts Frontier AI Labs, Warns Enterprises Over IP Control

Palantir CEO Alex Karp escalated his criticism of frontier artificial intelligence labs on Monday, warning that enterprises risk losing control of their intellectual property. Speaking in an exclusive interview with CNBC, Karp argued that businesses are being pressured into a future where they own nothing.

Major model developers like Anthropic and OpenAI have maintained that customer data remains secure and is not utilized for model training. However, Karp dismissed these assurances, pointing out that organizations want to maintain absolute control over their technology stacks and business values.

"We have people trying to drug addict us to a future they believe they control," Karp said during the interview.

Karp's outspoken stance has sparked broader industry discussions, drawing support from prominent tech figures like Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and investor Chamath Palihapitiya. Meanwhile, Palantir reported blowout second-quarter earnings, with overall revenue surging 93% and its U.S. commercial business jumping nearly 150%.

Palantir subsequently signed an open-weight AI defense letter alongside Nvidia and Microsoft, highlighting open-weight models as critical tools for enterprise sovereignty and national security.
