Liverpool Held to Frustrating Draw, Iraola Points to Fatigue

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola admitted his team suffered from a clear lack of freshness following a 0-0 draw with Fulham at Anfield. Despite the disappointing offensive display, the result keeps Iraola's side unbeaten early in the Premier League season.

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola admitted his players were visibly fatigued but refused to use it as an excuse after being held to a 0-0 draw by Fulham at Anfield on Saturday. The Reds failed to replicate the high energy they displayed during their midweek Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid.

The stalemate left Liverpool struggling to generate meaningful attacking opportunities against a resilient Fulham side. Victor Munoz and Alexander Isak both tested goalkeeper Bernd Leno, but the hosts lacked their usual sharpness in the final third.

"I think what was lacking was quite clear," said Iraola. 'It is the first game since I've been here we've had problems creating chances to score goals, to make the difference offensively. There is a lack of freshness, definitely, we cannot hide it.'

Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa praised his squad's character and performance after securing their first point of the campaign. The visitors created several dangerous moments, including a goal-line clearance from Jeremy Jacquet following a defensive mix-up.

The clean sheet keeps Liverpool undefeated in the league standings as teams navigate early-season fixture congestion. Fulham travels to their next fixture looking to build upon this defensive solidity.
