Kevin Doyle Urges Evan Ferguson to Follow Troy Parrott Blueprint, Overcome Fitness Battles
Former Republic of Ireland international Kevin Doyle believes injured striker Evan Ferguson must emulate Troy Parrott's career trajectory to reignite his potential. Ferguson is currently undergoing rehabilitation following ankle surgery that cut short a loan spell at Italian club Roma.
Doyle noted that Ferguson sits in a career phase similar to Parrott's from two years ago, when high expectations and injuries temporarily slowed his momentum. Parrott has since rebounded strongly, recently scoring the winning goal for Real Betis against Real Madrid in LaLiga.
"Evan Ferguson is in a similar zone to where Troy Parrott was two or three years ago," said Doyle, emphasizing the need for rigorous physical discipline.
The former Wolves forward praised Ferguson's raw physical traits, including his aerial dominance, strength, and finishing ability. However, Doyle stressed that transforming into a reliable, top-tier professional requires peak athletic conditioning and sustained injury prevention.
Ferguson remains sidelined in recovery while parent club Brighton monitor his rehabilitation process ahead of a future return to competitive action.
