Trump Slams Iranian Leadership As Duplicitous, Warns Of Final Chance For Deal

President Donald Trump criticized the Iranian regime as unbelievably duplicitous on Monday after Iranian officials publicly denied that negotiations between Washington and Tehran were underway. Trump had previously announced that bilateral discussions would start Monday afternoon, following his decision to call off major military strikes to pursue a deal over the Strait of Hormuz.

Despite Trump's claims of active dialogue, Iranian Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei told reporters that Tehran has no ongoing negotiations with America. Instead, Iran stated it was exclusively discussing a temporary safe route through the strategic waterway with Oman.

'Iranian Leadership is unbelievably duplicitous! They ask for a meeting, some would say "beg," talks begin, with more scheduled in the immediate future, and they say, openly and proudly, that they're not having any discussions,' wrote Trump on Truth Social.

The diplomatic friction comes as the conflict enters its sixth month, driven by disputes over shipping lanes and escalating regional instability that has impacted global energy prices. Trump warned reporters at the White House that marine traffic must resume through the Strait of Hormuz by Tuesday, marking a critical deadline in phase one of the negotiations.

Commercial shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is scheduled to resume under the interim agreement, while subsequent diplomatic phases will address Iran's contested nuclear program.
