Alan Wilson Secures Major Law Enforcement Endorsement, Boosts 2026 Governor Bid
South Carolina Attorney General and GOP gubernatorial nominee Alan Wilson picked up a major endorsement on Monday (August 31, 2026) from the South Carolina State Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police. The prominent law enforcement organization officially urged its members, officers' families, and voters across the state to rally behind Wilson's bid for the governor's office in this fall's election.
The endorsement follows an exhaustive evaluation process that included direct questionnaires, interviews, and voting ballots distributed to local lodges throughout the Palmetto State. To secure the statewide designation, candidates are required to win the approval of more than two-thirds of the organization's local chapters, a benchmark Wilson cleared without difficulty.
"Alan Wilson has spent years working with the men and women who protect South Carolina, and our members know his record," said lodge president John Blackmon. "He has committed to keeping law enforcement at the table as governor, and we believe that relationship will make South Carolina safer."
Wilson's campaign has heavily leaned into his extensive prosecutorial background and deep relationships with local officials. Throughout the Republican primary race, he collected backing from 25 county sheriffs and six solicitors before advancing to the general election ballot.
Wilson will face Democratic state representative Jermaine Johnson in the November 3, 2026 statewide election to determine the next governor of South Carolina.
